  • 1 6-inch cast-iron skillet or 1-quart baking dish
  • 1 baking sheet for crostini, optional

Ingredients
  

  • 12 ounces cream cheese softened (1 ½ blocks)
  • 6 green onions finely chopped
  • 5 tablespoons mayonnaise ¼ cup plus 1 tablespoon
  • 12 ounces crabmeat drained (two 6-ounce cans)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded white cheddar cheese or mozzarella divided
  • sliced green onions for garnish
  • crackers chips, celery, or crostini for serving

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, chopped green onions, mayonnaise, drained crabmeat, garlic powder, salt, and half of the shredded cheese. Stir until well mixed.
  • Spread the mixture evenly into a 6-inch cast-iron skillet or 1-quart baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
  • Bake for 20 minutes until the dip is bubbly.
  • Turn on the broiler and broil until the cheese is browned in spots.
  • Remove from oven and let the dip rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
  • Optional: To prepare crostini, slice a baguette into ½-inch pieces, sprinkle with salt, bake at 350°F for about 15 minutes until lightly golden, then cool.

Notes

  • Use gluten-free crackers or bread for a gluten-free version.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated and consume within 3 days.
  • Serve warm for best flavor and texture.
  • Crostini enhances the texture but chips or celery can be used for dipping.
