Ingredients
  

  • 1 package sugar cookie dough mix or your favorite recipe
  • 8 ounces brick cream cheese softened
  • 6 tablespoons butter softened
  • 2 cups confectioner's sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Assorted berries and fruit blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, kiwis, mandarin oranges

Instructions
 

  • Prepare sugar cookie dough according to package or recipe directions.
  • Roll dough to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut out egg-shaped cookies using the cookie cutter.
  • Bake cookies following the recommended time and temperature on the package or recipe.
  • Remove cookies from oven and allow them to cool completely on a cooling rack.
  • Make the frosting by mixing softened cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Add vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, then gradually mix in confectioner's sugar until smooth.
  • Chop berries and fruit into small pieces for decorating.
  • Frost each cooled cookie with a thick layer of cream cheese frosting.
  • Decorate frosted cookies with chopped fruit and berries.
  • Serve immediately or add fruit just before serving if preparing ahead.

Notes

  • Cookies can be baked and frosted ahead, but add fresh fruit just before serving to prevent sogginess.
  • Pat fruit dry with paper towels if it has excess juice for best results.
  • Use cream cheese frosting for a rich and smooth texture.
