Tater Tot Appetizer Cups

Crispy and cheesy tater tot cups filled with bacon, sour cream, and green onions. Perfect handheld finger food for parties, these loaded snacks are quick to prepare and irresistible to guests.

Equipment

  • 1 muffin pan
  • 1 non-stick cooking spray
  • 1 shot glass or small juice glass

Ingredients
  

  • 48-60 frozen tater tots 16-oz bag
  • 3/4 cup freshly shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 4 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 2 green onions sliced (green part only)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 450ºF and spray muffin pan cups with cooking spray.
  • Place 4-5 frozen tater tots in each muffin cup (or 2-3 for mini muffin pan).
  • Bake on bottom rack for 10 minutes, then remove from oven.
  • Spray the bottom of a shot glass or small juice glass with cooking spray.
  • Use the glass to press down and shape the tater tots into cups by twisting it inside each muffin cup.
  • Return the muffin pan to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes until deep golden brown.
  • Add 1 tablespoon shredded cheddar cheese to each cup and bake 4-5 minutes more until melted.
  • Transfer the tater tot cups to a platter and let cool for 5 minutes.
  • Garnish with sour cream, crumbled bacon, and sliced green onions and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting and texture.
  • Make ahead by prepping through shaping, refrigerate, then reheat before serving.
  • Store leftovers airtight in the fridge up to 5 days.
  • Reheat in oven or air fryer at 350ºF for 10 minutes.
